On February 19, Bellevue launched the Christian Mobile Dental Clinic, an innovative ministry that will do just that: meet the needs and heal the hurts of underprivileged Memphis residents. The clinic operates 150 days a year, traveling to low-income areas of the city to provide basic dental services free of charge to residents.

The idea for the Christian Mobile Dental Clinic began as part of our Bellevue Loves Memphis program. Since the program began in 2007, thousands of Bellevue members have been involved in community service projects around Memphis, all for the purpose of sharing God’s love in a tangible way. Bellevue has worked with city schools through tutoring and campus improvements, opened a college student center near the University of Memphis, and organized practical service projects for community parks, hospitals, and other local organizations. “All of the social ministry that we do is a means to an end,” said Bro. Steve. “The real end is to tell them that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
To help with the finances and manpower necessary to operate the clinic, we are partnering with other churches and organizations. “We knew from day one that this was a larger project than Bellevue could handle alone,” said Marcum. Our partners include Baptist Memorial Health Care, buydentalequipment.com, Christian Medical and Dental Association, Darby Dental, Mid-South Baptist Association, Patterson Dental, Second Presbyterian Church, Tennessee Baptist Convention, Trinity Baptist Church, and UT Health Science Center’s Department of Dental Hygiene.
“We believe that we’re putting wheels on the Gospel through this ministry,” stated Dr. Mike Day, a representative of the Mid-South Baptist Association, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. And that’s exactly what the Christian Mobile Dental Clinic is all about. Sharing God’s love and meeting the needs of people in Memphis right where they live.
